We host open mic events every month to showcase new talent in art, books and performance. Our events will include:
Book Launches, Book Reading and Book Signing
As a literary den, Whispers Book Den is an excellent venue for launches, signings and book reading. Publishers and upcoming writers are provided with an established avenue to meet an eager client base and showcase their works. Publishers are expected to foot a snack-and-drinks bill and an administration fee for using the venue to launch their books.
Spoken Word and Stand-up comedy
This is what Whispers stood for, expression! Whispers Book Den will allow people to showcase their talent. We will have spoken poetry and stand-up comedy (accompanied by live bands with acoustic sounds) each fortnight. This will allow the Den to and develop talent and also provide an avenue for people to use their talent and creativity to comment on the major issues in our society.
Children Activities
Whispers Book Den will dedicate some time every month for children activities such as spelling bees, reading competition, mentorship programmes and so much more. Club members will be mentored and programmes to nurture them into a reading society developed. Whispers Book Den will perform talent searches every so often in order to nurture budding
EXPRESSIVE CONTENT
We are keen on promotion of expressive content that promotes African culture. This can be in the form of fine art, music CDs, movies and documentaries. To this end, we stock material from local talent to give them a platform to showcase themselves. Various artists can drop their works at the Den at an agreed commission.
TRAINING & MENTORSHIP
A key business life line for us is promotion of talent. We have training and mentorship programmes for upcoming authors and artists. We will continuously nurture new talent and enhance existing talents to ensure the public is kept on its toes. Every holiday, we have children reading camps aimed at nurturing and nourishing young talent. Visit us to learn more about it.
FOOD FOR THOUGHT
What is African culture without food? Come and enjoy our sumptuous meals specially prepared by our in-house African specialty chef! We serve two meals (vegetarian and non-vegetarian) a day and offer office deliveries as well. We also have a variety of bitings and non-alcoholic that you can savor as you read your favorite books or appreciate art. |
